 PROJECT MANAGER -  Interviewing February 2012

Do you make things happen?  Can you manage all aspects of the Structural Steel process including:-:  Negotiation/Estimating, Fabrication, Installation, Quality Control of significant projects read on.

Recognised industry leaders within steel fabrication, and erection of structural steel from their workshops, they work on major construction projects throughout central New Zealand.

Due to increasing workload and the continuing growth of their company we are seeking a suitably experienced Project Manager. You will receive exposure to major construction companies and clients on account of the project management aspect of the role.

We require an enthusiastic and practical person to assist in the preparation of tenders and the administrative running of their structural engineering projects and you will deal directly with the customer regarding all aspects of the project and negotiate issues that may arise.

Minimum requirements for this role include:-

  • A minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role
  • Relevant trade qualification or relevant tertiary qualifications (highly regarded);
  • Business Acumen;
  • Good communication skills and the ability to foster good customer relationships;
  • Familiarity with the tendering process, quoting and estimating;
  • Versatility;
  • Have initiative, be self motivated and have drive to achieve results;
  • Ability to delegated instruction and prioritise workloads.

The ability to read plans and engineering drawings is essential; you must be computer literate and you will be expected to work as part of a project team.

This will be a full time permanent position, based in the Wellington region. The successful candidate will have the use of a company vehicle and receive a remuneration package based on ability and performance.

·         Accurate and complete manufacturing documentation including method sheets, drawings and bill of materials;

·         And be an integral part of the ISO 9001 quality processes to ensure quality products are delivered to customers.

 

You would :-

·         Be the interface between engineering and manufacturing and vice versa;

·         Ensure all necessary information is in place to enable manufacture;

·         And resolve any manufacturing issues;

·         Manage both engineering and production priorities.

 

To be successful in this role you will:-

·         An engineering qualification and background in electro-mechanical manufacturing;

·         Be very detail conscious to ensure accuracy of manufacturing processes and documentation;

·         Have a high level of computer literacy in word, spreadsheet and drawing specifications and very confident interpersonal skills.
