We currently have a vacancy for a Project Engineer. Ideally we are looking for someone with intermediate to senior level experience. The position reports to the Central Regional Manager and is based in Wellington. However, the projects worked on will generally take place in the lower north island south of a line between Gisborne and New Plymouth.
This role has a huge amount of variety involving investigation, planning, project justification, coordinating designs; supervising projects in the field and assisting create new business processes. The types of projects will include: new rail sidings and deviations; drainage and land stabilisation works; projects to improve track condition on key routes; and assisting recovery from incidents.
The person we are looking for must have the ability to relate well to a range of field staff, engineers, managers and rail customers.
To be successful in this role you will ideally have:
• A tertiary qualification in Engineering and general design experience
• Experience working in an operational environment preferably in the transport industry
• Proven experience in Project Management to plan and deliver results
• Excellent analysis and investigation skills
• A focus on quality and cost control
• Strong organisational, interpersonal and influencing skills
• The ability to prioritise deadlines and work autonomously.
• A passion for Health & Safety at work
• Excellent problem solving skills
• A pragmatic and results focused approach with a ‘can do’ attitude
